Dell et Ruhs

Upon meeting, Lizzie Nodell and Rebecca Ruhsam immediately realized that they shared similar ambitions. Both women, known for their strong will and independence, traveled across country to Los Angeles to enter the fast paced world of fashion public relations. Brought together by their love of fashion, the two spent their first years side by side at their desks, bouncing ideas off each other and working toward a common goal – to produce solid press, create relationships, and build brands.

In February of 2007, Nodell and Ruhsam decided to use their passion and dedication to work toward a new common goal; the creation of Dell et Ruhs Public Relations. They pondered the idea coming home from a Las Vegas trip for the Project tradeshow and immediately went to work.

Young and hungry for success, Nodell and Ruhsam took jobs at a Los Angeles-based fashion publicity firm immediately after college. Nodell, originally from Gainesville, Florida, graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida. She spent her first year immersing herself in the industry, sometimes making cold calls to editors, doing whatever it took to secure contacts at all the top fashion publications including Lucky, In Style, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. Ruhsam, who attended American University in Washington, D.C., grew up in the U.S. Virgin Islands. With a degree in Business Administration and Marketing and a minor in Graphic Design, she brought another set of great skills to the table, and while it wasn’t realized at the time, they were ones that truly complemented those of Nodell’s.

In their first year together, Nodell and Ruhsam secured the agency’s first placements in Vogue, Lucky, In Style, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Allure, Marie Claire, People Magazine, Us Weekly, Esquire, features in Women’s Wear Daily, Daily News Record, and California Apparel News, and a variety of other top fashion, lifestyle, regional and online publications. They also sought out and formed lasting relationships with leading stylists, both for editorial and celebrity product placement. Experience was not limited to work in the office. Trips to New York’s editorial offices to solidify relationships, contacts made networking in LA’s party scene, gifting suites, and long hours put in during LA Fashion Week enhanced their understanding of the industry.

In May of 2007, Nodell and Ruhsam launched Dell et Ruhs Public Relations, a fast-paced firm based on their values of hard work, high expectations, personal attention and integrity.
